#266. Berita TV : ‘Indie Spirit’ on Star Movies

THROUGHOUT the months of March and April, Star Movies pays tribute to the liberating ‘Indie Spirit’, showing films set to break the mould and challenge the minds of the audience.Open your minds and hearts to a little bit of the Indie Spirit every Tuesday at 10pm, from today till April 28.

Catch Ben Affleck’s directorial debut — Gone Baby Gone at 10pm. This adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s novel is about two private detectives, Kenzie (Casey Affleck) and Gennaro (Michelle Monaghan), who in- vestigate the disappearance of a young girl from her Boston home.Astronaut Farmer premiering on March 17 tells the tale of Charles Farmer (Billy Bob Thornton), a former NASA astronaut who plans to build his own rocket ship and orbit the Earth in a solo mission.Despite objections from his wife and the FBI, this downon- his-luck dreamer pursues his dream.

Another film to watch out for is Chapter 27, with Jared Leto delivering a stunning performance as John Lennon’s assassin, Mark David Chapman. Co-starring Lindsay Lohan, the film reveals Chapman’s obsession with the former Beatle and tracks the killer in the days before Lennon’s
death.

The last film for the month of March is Feast of Love, premiering on March 31. Directed by Robert Benton, it stars Greg Kinnear and Oscarwinner Morgan Freeman. This feel-good film follows
the residents of a small town as they find love in the most unexpected places.

The Indie Spirit continues every Tuesday at 10pm in April. On April 7, Star Movies premieres director Wes Anderson’s offbeat family drama, The Darjeeling Limited, starring Oscar winner Adrien Brody and Owen Wilson.

The following week, catch Oscar-winner Javier Bardem and Natalie Portman in the historical biopic Goya’s Ghosts. The film chronicles the life of painter Francisco Goya and his encounters with the Spanish Inquisition.

The TV premiere of Oscar winning romance, Once, will be aired on April 21. This charmer about an Irish busker who strikes a chord with a piano- playing songwriter scored the Oscar for Best Original Song.

The final film in the Indie Spirit line-up is Resurrecting the Champ, premiering on April 28 and focuses on a struggling sports writer (Josh Hartnett) who believes he’s found a headline-making story when he finds a former boxing legend (Samuel L Jackson) living on the streets.
